The book that I'm reading is SLAM. It's some what similar to my life in different ways; mainly with basketball and grades. Chapter one is about Greg "Slam" Harris, and his mom is having a conference with his principal about his grades. He's being ask to lay low for the season until he gets his grades up. Just like me, he couldn't stand when someone asked him to give up basketball. His mom had a talk with him about what he needs to give up, and he chose to give up the art club. He just couldn't give basketball up for anything.
Then they had tryouts, and he miss read the flyer. He thought that tryouts were after school, but it was at two thirty. The coach ask him to get in at center, and he told the coach thats not his game, I'm a guard. the coach told him to stay on the side line then. After practice him and the coach played one-on-one. As a young ball player Slam wasn't going to let an old man try and call him out. Slam showed the coach his skills and that he could play, so he put Slam on the team.
Great Jonathan! You would be suprised how much this blog and reading a little bit each week can help you in all your academic areas. I would like to think you attitude towards this class is improving and that you understand that you are here BECAUSE you don't enjoy reading. Sometimes it's just about finding the right book. I'm on your side--never forget this. That is the only reason that I'm hard on you--you CAN do well and sometimes just need a little push.
